Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 16, 2026
Plateato ("the app") is a pantry and shopping list app for households. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we don't show ads, and we never sell your data.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address and a password. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
- Profile settings. Preferences you choose in the app, such as your preferred measurement units.
- Household information. The name of any household you create or join, your membership in it, and invite codes you generate.
- App content. The pantry and shopping list data you enter — item names, quantities, storage locations, and expiration dates.
- Technical data. Our infrastructure provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses and request timestamps) for security and reliability. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics services.
How we use your information
- To provide the app's core features: signing you in, storing your pantry and shopping data, and syncing it across your devices.
- To share data within your household: members of the same household can see the household's shared pantry, shopping list, and household name.
- To communicate essential account messages, such as email verification or password resets.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored with Supabase, our backend provider, which processes it on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments. Data is protected in transit with encryption, and access is restricted so that household data is only visible to members of that household.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and profile; households where you are the only member are deleted along with their pantry and shopping data. Content in households you shared with others remains with the household, with your authorship removed.
Children's privacy
Plateato is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
